Roberta Malavenda oral history interview [sound recording], 1998 November 22.

Malavenda describes her childhood and her early interest in politics. In Gainesville, Florida, she helped to organize the United Farm Workers movement, with Cesar Chavez and his wife, and she states that it was during this time that she became interested in the Women's Movement. After moving to Georgia in 1977, Malavenda quickly began working for the ERA campaign as a field coordinator. She recounts the political battles that were fought in Georgia, the leadership of the Women's Movement, as well as the effect that other major issues, such as civil rights and gay rights, had on the Women's Movement.
